 Meetings are the 1st Tuesday of each month at the Fond Du Lac County Veterans Building-American Legion Hall 500 Fond Du Lac Avenue, Fond Du Lac, Wisconsin.
April 2012 Attention Chapter #11 DAV Members: On May, 1 2012, the Third District Commander will be attending our meeting as we were not able to elect officers in the position of Commander, Treasure and appoint an adjutant. Several other positions are vacant and required by our Constitution and Bylaws, but not the national organization. If the necessary positions are not filled, then your Chapter WILL BE put on hold for a period of time. If the matter cannot be resolved, your chapter and unit will shut down and charter revoked. You will then be assigned to a new chapter, possible Oshkosh, or another chapter closer to where you reside. I have spent the last 7years serving your chapter in various roles and I am unable to continue at this time. I am burned out and will not attempt to do the duties required of any officer position. Many of our other ACTIVE, members are also burned out, or simply getting old enough where they are unable to hold positions any longer. If you care at all about your Chapter 11, make your best efforts to be at the meeting on May 1, 2012, at 6:00pm.
I understand that many of us have busy lives and it is difficult to make one more commitment. The only way your chapter can continue to function is if we have a larger percentage of members involved in the organization. If we ALL share in the responsibilities of the Chapter’s business, then no one person will feel the burden of volunteering for 1 more activity. You can no longer rely on 10-15 people to maintain your Chapter’s Charter. There are approximately 250 members assigned to our Chapter, which means our active members make up approximately 5% of the “work force”. As with any topic related to your benefits, if your not there to fight for them, do not complain when they change or disappear. I would like to thank those members who have donated whatever time has been available to the organization. Will our Chapter make it to 100 years. The Choice is up to YOU!!!!
